Saltas Deli

Oliver, the Founder of COIN in Hebden Bridge, his great uncle was Romeo Salta.

Romeo was an immigrant from Taranto Italy, raised in care, and made his way over to New York by jumping ship after working a number of restaurant jobs from kitchen boy, cabin steward and initially within the submarine service like his father before him who died working on an Italian Navy submarine when Romeo was just 6.  

He went on to open his namesake restaurant Romeo Saltas and was a ‘Dining pioneer’ within Manhattan.  

His restaurant was extremely popular with actors & models, such as Grace Kelly. 

Saltas Deli uses our family history as inspiration to create New York style Italian subs, everything is made in house on the day, we also offer soft serve ice cream, coffee, soft drinks & beer
