Iglu Sauna

About

Our saunas are purpose built, Nordic style, and are wood-fired. The benches and made out of aspen and alder wood, and the frame out of heat treated Finnish pine (Thermowood). As the sauna warms, the natural aromas of the wood infuse the air.

We aim to keep the temperature the same in both saunas of about 85 degrees celsius. This will fluctuate from anywhere to 70 to 95 degrees, so do listen to your body and adjust where you sit depending on how the heat feels to you.

Our saunas have small porches that act as an airlock, keeping the heat in when guests enter and exit.

You will find a bucket of eucalyptus infused water beside the stove - we recommend pouring two to three ladles on the stones every 10-15 minutes. Make sure to check in with other guests about their löyly preferences.

We are located in a slightly elevated, secluded spot surrounded by trees. We love the spot - it has a view down the valley and feels peaceful, even though it’s two minutes walk from the centre. There’s plenty of space and we have made a few refinements to the facilities.

The site is owned by the Calder Valley Community Land Trust (CVCLT), a local organisation dedicated to creating sustainable and affordable rented homes. We’re really happy to be working with CVCLT, who will use the rental income to carry out woodland management at High Street and to create affordable rented homes locally.

CVCLT said they are “pleased to be working with iglu sauna to contribute to the vibrant community of Hebden Bridge.”

Location:

High Street is a two-minute walk from the Co-op in the centre of Hebden Bridge, between the main road and Heptonstall Road. Once you are in Hebden Bridge, the easiest way to access is via the Cuckoo Steps - see our map below or follow this link for Google Maps. You can also access the site from Heptonstall Road - the path is just beyond the Fox and Goose pub.

We recommend walking or cycling if you are able to. You’re welcome to leave your bike inside the site.

Notice: from Saturday 29th November 2025 we will be in our new location in Hebden Bridge, the New Delight Inn, Smithy Ln, Blackshaw Head, Hebden Bridge HX7 7HT. Find out more here.

Book a regular session from £12 per person, or find out more about our other session types. If you're a regular sauna user, check out our membership options. Concessionary sauna access is also available for £6.

We are open every day of the week apart from Tuesdays.
