Artists Charcoal Powder

The Natural Charcoal Company Charcoal has been used for thousands of years and in many ways, from water filtration to digestive detoxification. Reading about the ‘Terra Preta’ soils in the amazon really captured our imagination. The soils, discovered in the 1980s, were found to be incredibly fertile due to the addition of charcoal, over many years, by the ancient tribes who lived on them. This understanding, coupled with charcoal’s net-zero carbon credentials, inspired us to develop our charcoal enterprise, which exclusively uses wood from the 33-acre semi-natural ancient woodland in Cumbria’s Rusland Valley.
